Anthony Dailley DDS, FICOI
My career in the health sciences started when I earned my bachelor’s degree in Cell & Molecular Biology at the California State University of San Francisco. After graduating, I entered dental school at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco where I later earned my dental degree in 1981. Since then I have been in private practice and during that time I also spent some years teaching at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. In 1997 I became one of the founders of a biopharmaceutical company called NovaBay Pharmaceuticals that develops non-antibiotic, anti-infective drugs for treating drug-resistant bacterial infections. I was a member of the company’s board of directors for 17 years and retired from the board in 2014. These types of infections are presenting great difficulties in the health field due to the increasing incidences of drug resistance to modern antibiotic therapy. I am passionate about trying to help combat this serious problem facing society. I am also an active member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Berkeley Dental Association, and I hold a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).
The ICOI is an international organization of doctors who specialize in dental implant surgery and prosthetics. The organization meets at various locations around the world each year to promote postdoctoral education and research and to learn the latest advancements in dental implant procedures. To be awarded a fellowship, the examining committee of the ICOI examines the credentials of the applicant, and their level of expertise in implant surgery and oral prosthetic rehabilitation. Also, actual implant treatment cases are submitted for the board’s review before the position of a Fellowship can be awarded to an applicant.
